Developing skills for

cross-curricular teaching

in a community-based

and outdoor environment

The project scope

The project ‘Utopia’ aims to improve the quality of learning experiences and enrich the learning environment to better meet the needs of children. We aim to do this by professionalising teachers in cross-curricular teaching and by providing them insights on outdoor education and community-based teaching. We will enhance their knowledge and skills  and make them experience the benefits of connecting research to practice.

Together we will examine what constitutes engaging and meaningful learning experiences that transcend subject boundaries and interconnect with the community and/or take place in an outdoor environment.

Objectives

  • enrich learning experiences
  • enrich learning environments
  • enhance existing skills and develop new skills (21st Century skills, transversal skills, digital skills…)
  • enable teachers to acquire, sift through, interpret and implement relevant research in their daily practice
  • produce innovative tools
  • enhance motivation and confidence in teaching
  • facilitate change and move towards growth mindsets
  • foster a culture of lifelong learning
All aboard!
